Characteristics For Autism

Welcome to Characteristics For Autism. Here you can find information, symptoms, signs, and diagnosis of the developmental disorder. While Autism has a strong genetic basis, it is complex and it is uncertain whether the condition is from gene interactions or by mutations. Other causes suggested, like childhood vaccines, currently lack convincing evidence.

At its current rate, Autism affects one to two cases per 1,000 people. The number of recognized cases of the disorder has gone up dramatically since the the eighties, due to improvements in diagnostic methods. Autism has an effect on a wide variety of parts in the brain; but how this occurs exactly isn't understood. Usually, characteristics of the disorder are seen the first two years of a child's life. Early recognition can help afflicted individuals gain self-care, social, and other skills. At present, there is no cure.

Autism Treatment

Seeing as there isn't a cure for autism, there have been a variety of developed treatments for the disorder. Usually, a combination of therapies and behavioral interventions target specific symptoms, hopefully bringing improvements. A treatment plan coordinates these methods in a way that help remedy core symptoms, like impaired social interaction, communication issues, and obsessive interests and focus. In most cases, the earlier the disorder is diagnosed, the better the chances for recovery.
